I took a day off today and took my kids to the water park! There’s a lot of screams and squeals, lots of laughter and shouting. And no matter what there’s always lots of”Hey Dad, look at me!” There’s always “Hey Dad, look what I can do!”
And I’m always proud! I act like I’ve never in my life seen someone jump from the edge of a pool with such skill! I’ve never seen anyone slide down a waterslide with such precision! “Wow’! That’s awesome baby!” And as I look around there are at least 20 other adults doing the same thing right now!
Why?
Because we love our children.
We aren’t celebrating the action as much as we are validating the person. Because we love them!
Made me think that this is how God is with me. To an infinite, omnipotent being my puny accomplishments should be laughable. But He not only celebrates my victories, He loves for me to lift them up to Him. To a holy God surrounded by angels and living creatures constantly in worship my feeble attempts at worship must be ridiculous. But He loves for me to lift it up to Him.
Because He loves His children.
So today try it out …. pray “Hey God, look at me!” Or “Look what I can do!” And then bask in the love of the Most High! He wants you to share it all with Him. Because He loves His children.
Because He loves YOU!
